Chiefland Astronomy Village History
From 2009-2014, the Fall Star Party was held in Chiefland on the fields owned by John Novak and Tom Crowley. Whether you are a career astronomer or if you just take an interest in the stars, you could come to the fields on new moon weekends to take in the sights, capture images, and connect with others who also have an interest in astronomy. In 2015, after the fields changed ownership, it was decided that the Fall Star Party would take place at Billy Dodd Memorial field starting in 2015.
What Happens at Chiefland Astronomy Village Today
Today, astronomers of all skill level can join the Chiefland Astronomy Village and take advantage of the many perks and events associated with the location. For $45, you will have access to the village and its amenities for an entire year, and while primarily astro-imagers, all astronomers tend to take advantage of this opportunity. So what exactly happens at Chiefland Astronomy Village?

- 30A/50A electric and water hookups available on site
- Imaging workshops every new moon Saturday
- Network with and learn from other astronomers
Things to Know
Before you head out to Chiefland Astronomy Village, there are a few things you should know.
- The land is privately owned and can be monitored at any time
- When the dark sky approaches, all lights must be switched to red
- You are responsible for cleaning up after yourself
- Quiet hours run from 8am-12pm
- No smoking or music is allowed on site
- Pets are welcome, as long as they behave
